These jeans (similar here) are my absolute favorite right now. The embroidered look is really in and this pair from Topshop is so comfortable. Whenever I wear them, I am always trying to find a shirt that is simultaneously plain enough as not to take a way from the beautiful details on the pants but also exciting in some way (cause you know I always gotta keep things exciting). I bought this shirt during the Aritiza sale in early July and have surprisingly worn it a ton (same top different color here). When I bought it, I thought it was really cool but that it seemed a little fancy for everyday. Oh how wrong I was! All summer, it was my go to top for those days when I just couldn't bear to sport a t-shirt with Nike shorts and Birkenstocks again. Because I wore this on another day of walking around in NYC, I just wore my boring old Converse but I think it ended up looking kind of retro which complemented the jeans. I also paired with this outfit my lavender suede Rebecca Minkoff purse.

Yay! Another NYC outfit! I have lots of outfits backlogged so it is safe to assume that all my upcoming outfit pics were from this trip till I say otherwise. This top was the starting point for this outfit. I bought it at Zara and am totally obsessed with it. I also just wanted to share the story of how I found it because I really think it was fate that brought us together. I was shopping in the summer around sale season and the store was a total madhouse. After sifting through almost everything, some blue and white stripes on the floor caught my eye. I picked up the stripes, briefly examined the garment and headed into the dressing room with about 20 other items. I left the store that day with only this shirt and even though everything else I tried on didn't work out, I felt accomplished. Anyway, I paired the best shirt of all time with my white ripped jeans (similar here) and my Gucci belt (as always and affordable similar here).
As you may have seen on my social media, I was in New York City last week doing the tourism thing for about the umpteenth time. While I was there, I tried my best to keep my outfit game strong so that I'd have lots of new outfits to write about. So, buckle up because this is the first of many! The day that I wore this outfit was packed with sightseeing so I wanted to make sure I was comfortable but dressed up enough so that I wouldn't have to change before heading to a Broadway theater. (For the 3 maybe 4 theater fans reading, I saw Bandstand that night which was really cute but not amazing.) I planned the whole outfit around the beautiful navy scarf I'm wearing from Madewell. Usually something like this would intimidate me because it is kind of a statement but, there are little white stars on it that totally caught my eye when I saw it in the store so I figured I'd try it. Also, Madewell offers a 20% discount for college students so I practically got it for free! It is super cute and comfortable and the perfect addition to any boring outfit. I wanted my clothes to be kind of plain so that the scarf would really stand out so I paired my white off-the-shoulder shirt from Brandy Melville (almost exactly the same but not quite here) with this rad 70s inspired denim skirt also from Madewell.
Oh, Lolla. Love to hate you and hate to love you. For all that there is to be said about Chicago's Lollapalooza, it is definitely the time to bring your outfit A-game which usually means crazy trendy and also a little revealing (hence the apology to my mom). Usually, I spend the whole summer searching for the perfect outfits so you can imagine my ensemble anxiety when I decided 2 days before the festival that I was going to go for 2 days. Obviously it was too late to shop so I had to make due with what was already in my closet. This was my best attempt at creating a last minute lolla-worthy outfit. So yeah, you guessed it, it was the return of the Brandy Melville sheer top which apparently they don't sell anymore. But really, if you didn't already buy this top, let's be real, you were never going to ;). Underneath, I wore my scalloped black bralette from Urban Outfitters. I paired it with my Lucky Brand shorts which have appeared before on this blog too. I know, I'm so lame. The real pièce de résistance of the outfit were these beautiful sunglasses (similar here). My friend found them helplessly alone on the ground the day before and honestly they just called my name. So basically we have God, Hailey Hoger and the poor girl who lost these sunglasses for the best part of my outfit. To be honest, I know this outfit is pretty boring as far as lolla outfits go but I love writing this blog so yolo! Ya know? Side note: I included a close up picture because the gold eye glitter was 100% part of the ensemble.
In the past, whenever plans were made to go to a nice dinner in the city, my immediate though was always, "What dress am I going to wear?" Especially when I was younger, I never even considered anything but a dress but recently, I've been ditching it. Last night, I wore this to dinner with my friends at a Chinese restaurant in Chicago called "Imperial Lamain" (which is to die for if you ever get a chance to go). The first thing I grabbed when planning this outfit was the pants. These pants are my absolute favorite because they're essentially the same thing as wearing white jeans but they're so much more interesting. Unfortunately, I bought them a while ago and after scouring the internet I couldn't find any that are even remotely similar so sorry friends! I bought them at Nordstrom in the spring though so if you think you might die without them, keep your eyes on the sale racks. The next thing I put on was my sheer sparkly black short sleeve from Brandy Melville. I'm sure you've seen this shirt before since it's so trendy right now. As far as I have seen, it has been unofficially dubbed a 'going-out shirt' because it's most often worn with some type of black bra underneath. Since I've been home for the summer, my going-out shirts have really not seen the light of day. Because this one can easily be converted to a normal shirt, I threw it on with a black cami underneath to get a little use out of it before I head back to school. I paired this outfit with my black studded Mercer Edit boots which are my recent obsession. I got them at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (surprise surprise) and have already worn them 3 times. They are so comfy and the perfect way to spice up practically any outfit! They're almost sold out but if you're in the market for some new booties and a size 6.5, the discount is awesome. The last things I put on to complete the look were my Gucci belt (affordable look-alike here) and my red and black Rag and Bone purse (similar here).
by: Sydney Cooper It is rare for me to dress up because usually my outfit consists of all workout clothes. So this dress is a huge step up in my wardrobe. For how trendy it is, it's also a steal. I bought this black and white checkered dress (similar here) at a cute store called Irene's Story. They have super cute and trendy items for very good prices. My friends and I say it's the in between of Nordstrom and Forever 21. My favorite part of this dress was how well it fit me. I have lots of curves, so form fitting things get tricky on me if they are straight cut, but luckily this one worked out. The arm cuffs or over the shoulder part also adds a lot to the look. But let me tell you, it gets annoying after a while, so I slipped my arms out and wore it without them. Always a big plus when clothing is versatile. The day I wore this, I walked all around LA and Venice Beach and went to cute ice cream shop called "Little Damage." I paired it with a simple rose gold necklace (similar here) that I wear everyday and round pink Ray Bans.
I've always felt like denim on denim was a fashion sin. I would avoid it at all costs which usually meant my jean jackets collected piles of dust in my closet. When I got this Topshop ripped jean jacket at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I decided that I would never again let a jean jacket go to waste so I got over my fear and wore a double denim outfit. *gasp* I paired this jacket with my favorite pair of Paige jeans. You might not be able to tell from the photo but they have these amazing false pocket zippers which are the reason they're my fave. They are a darker wash than the jacket which made me think the denim on denim was going to be ok. However, I now think that two denim pieces in the same wash would be ok too. *bigger gasp* Under my jacket I wore a Madewell sweater tank to add some color. I also had on my favorite suede booties (similar here) to dress this bad ass outfit up a little and some black round sunnies (similar here).
I found this black top on one of my many journeys through asos.com. If any of you have ever traversed their online store, you understand how overwhelming it can be. The website has what seems like a million different items but if you're patient, you can find some killer stuff. I knew this top would come in handy but since it's not a bodysuit, I had to wait for the right pair of high-wasted bottoms. I finally found them at Aritzia as a part of their sale! These camel suede shorts are super comfy and the perfect mate for my black top. I wore this during the day so I dressed it down with a pair of sandals that were honestly too boring to even photograph. In my defense, it was really hot the day I wore this. Also, I kept it a little interesting by adding a blue opal Kendra Scott necklace and my favorite BCBG sunnies (similar here) so try not to be too mad at me!!! To dress it up I would add a leather jacket, another longer necklace and some heeled booties. These pieces super awesome not just because they're cute but also because they're so versatile. Since they're pretty plain in color, they work well with lots of other things. For example, I wore the shorts, the other day with a plain white scoop neck tee which made them much more casual!
Everyone knows the importance of a killer fourth of July outfit. It is one of the best days of the year to get a cute selfie to post on insta with a cheeky caption about how much we all love the greatest country in the world, right?! This year I didn't have time to go out and buy an outfit that screams patriotism like I usually do so, I had to put together something from the stuff that was already in my closet. I headed to my suburb's parade in my favorite baseball hat that features a needle point democratic donkey. Unfortunately, I got this at a gift shop in D.C. so I can't link it. Since I don't have much red in my closet, so I had to stick to blue and white. I paired my off the shoulder Madewell shirt (similar here) with a classic pair of ripped denim shorts from Lucky Brand and my Gucci belt. While I love my mom's hand-me-down Gucci belt, any belt with a big buckle would be perfect!
